The innovative identity verification technology of Facephi, a leading Spanish company in the sector, has arrived at Aena airports, truly a before-and-after moment in passenger airport experience.
Facephi is setting a milestone in Spanish aviation with the introduction of its advanced digital identity verification technology using biometrics in some of Aena’s airports, revolutionising the way passengers access their planes, in a faster and more secure process.
Facephi has designed a registration and identity verification procedure that can be carried out online using the Aena app or in person at the airport. It comprises the automatic capture of the passenger’s document, a selfie for facial verification and biometric comparison with the ID card image. Once checked in, passengers can access security filters and boarding gates through facial recognition, eliminating the need to show physical documents (they will still have to carry them, but there is now no need to show them) and speeding up all procedures.
This project, which has already been joined by several leading airlines, is improving the in-flight experience from check-in to boarding by integrating biometric solutions at security checkpoints, boarding gates, and mobile applications. This makes Facephi a benchmark in its sector, including within the international airport industry.
Since the award of the project in 2021 to implement its software in the onboarding and authentication processes, Facephi has demonstrated its high level of involvement, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and security.
In addition, this technology represents a significant step forward in adapting airports to the new needs of an increasingly digitised and connected world. Facephi’s ability to deliver a highly secure “touchless” flight experience is a great example of how technology can improve not only operational efficiency, but also customer satisfaction.
It is crucial to highlight that the identity verification solutions implemented by Facephi are aligned with the principles of ethical biometrics, rigorously complying with ISO regulations and the legal framework of the GDPR, thus ensuring respect for privacy and the protection of personal data. This responsible approach bolsters confidence in biometric solutions and showcases Facephi’s commitment to respectful and secure innovation.
As Facephi continues to expand its presence in the international airport sector, its technology is positioned as a key element in the evolution towards smarter, more ethical, and user-centric airports.
